About GG
So far, GutsyGirl is still in its beginning stages, mostly consisting of ideas in my head. Basically, the following is my vision for the organization after I’ve gone through all the necessary steps to get a nonprofit running–hopefully sooner than later.
What I want it to be:
1. A nonprofit that serves as a resource for young girls and women, elementary through high school, helping them realize their potential and feel strong and confident.
2. An outlet to connect girls with people and activities that can help them utilize their talents and interests.
3. An expert-free, non judgmental forum where girls can feel secure in being themselves and unafraid to admit their faults.
Being young myself, I’m still close to the the difficult stage of life these girls are up against and understand that they aren’t issues to simply dismiss as “kid stuff.” Emotional problems like depression, anxiety, self hatred, etc., usually don’t disappear with time, but only snowball into bigger, more life-altering problems. It’s my hope that this organization will not only address existing problems, but also help to head off a predisposition before it becomes a problem.
The GutsyGirl website will be critical to the success of the organization, as I want it to be an interactive outlet where girls can start to feel more comfortable with talking about their feelings, sort of a precursor to feeling more comfortable in their own skin. I don’t want to use a blanket approach to the entire organization, since a girl at age 8 has very different needs and problems than a girl at 18. I need to make it relevant and scalable somehow, but I’ll have to iron out those details soon.
Any thoughts, suggestions or insight? Please feel free to shoot me an email at gutsygirl.melissa@gmail.com or leave a comment for me. Any help is truly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your comment on my blog
I think this blog has a great theme – there is so much pressure on women of all ages, and a comfortable place to build self-esteem seems like a perfect step in the right direction.

Thank you, Tat! My inspiration for GG is women like you, so when I get my ducks in a row a little more, I might be asking for some of your opinions/advice! xoxo
